Syphilis


1. " Definition of syphilis  "

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease ( STD ) . Syphilis is a bacterial infection usually spread by sexual contact. The disease starts as a painless sore — typically on your genitals, rectum or mouth. Syphilis spreads from person to person via skin or mucous membrane contact with these sores.

After the initial infection, the syphilis bacteria can remain inactive (dormant) in your body for decades before becoming active again.


2.  " Causes of syphilis  "

The causes of syphilis is a bacterium called Treponema pallidum.
 The most common route of transmission is through contact with an infected person's sore during sexual activity.
The bacteria enter your body through minor cuts or abrasions in your skin or mucous membranes.

3. " Sign and symptoms of syphilis "

There are following symptoms of syphilis are :-

# Painless ulcers

# Sores

# vaginal discharge

# Skin rashes

# Small bump

# Ulcers

# Fatigue

# Itching

# Mouth ulcers

# Rash on the palm 👐

# Rash on the Soles

# Rectal lining inflammation

4.  " Types of syphilis " 


It is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD). It’s easily cured but can be serious if it’s not treated.

This STD develops in four stages. 
Symptoms in the first two can be so mild that you might not notice them. One stage -- latent syphilis -- doesn’t have symptoms.
The other three phases have distinct symptoms.

They develop as follows:

1.  Primary
Painless sores appear at the site of infection (mouth, anus, rectum, vagina, or penis). These are called chancres.
It’s easily treated and cured with medicine.


2. Secondary
Rough red or reddish brown rash on palms of hands and soles of feet and other symptoms occurs such as :- 

# Swollen lymph nodes
# Fever
# Sore throat
# Patchy hair loss
# Headaches and body aches
# Extreme tiredness (fatigue)


3. Latent
During this phase, the syphilis bacteria are still alive in your body, but you have no signs or symptoms of the infection. You’re not contagious during this stage, 
but syphilis may still affect the body parts such as  :-
# Heart ❤
# Brain
# Nerve
# Eyes 👀
# Muscles 💪
# Bones 
# other parts of body.. .


4. Tertiary
This stage begins when symptoms from the secondary stage disappear. Syphilis isn’t contagious at this point, but the infection has started to affect your organs. This can lead to death. 
Symptoms of tertiary syphilis may include:

# Muscles spasms
# Controlling Muscles movement
#Numbness
# Dementia
# Eye swallowing
# Blindness
# Nerve damage
# Brain damage
# Finally death ⚰



5. " Prevention of syphilis "

It doesn't spread as readily as the flue virus, or cold virus.
Individual can protect themselves from syphilis by adopting various preventive measures following  are :-

1. Practice safer sex, use condoms 👱👐👩

2. Avoid multiple sexual partners 👬

3. Never share needles

4. Always use sterile needles

5. Drug treatment for syphilis infected mother  during pregnancy

6. Syphilis affected mother should not feed milk to their babies👶



6. " Treatment of syphilis "

Syphilis is treated with penicillin. Sexual partners should also be treated. 
The mostly medication used are
1. Penicillin antibiotic
2. Antibiotics

Penicillin is one of the most widely used antibiotics and is usually effective in treating syphilis. 
People who are allergic to penicillin will likely be treated with a different antibiotic, such as:

# doxycycline
# azithromycin
# ceftriaxone
